Atrium Health’s Carolinas Rehabilitation: Best in the Carolinas

This year marks the second consecutive appearance among the top spots for Carolinas Rehabilitation on U.S. News & World Report’s national Best Hospitals for Rehabilitation Care list. As one of the nation’s leading and largest non-profit teaching rehabilitation hospitals, Atrium Health delivers comprehensive, advanced care and best-in-class outcomes. In 2019, Carolinas Rehabilitation was honored for its commitment to improving patient safety and quality, recognized by the American Hospital Association with the Quest for Quality Prize, the only rehabilitation hospital to ever win this award.

“For the past decade, Carolinas Rehabilitation has strengthened our commitment to expert clinical care to become the best choice for rehab care in the Carolinas and among the best in the nation,” said Robert Larrison, president of Atrium Health’s Carolinas Rehabilitation. “We are honored to again be recognized by U.S. News & World Report and look forward to opening our new and reimagined rehabilitation hospital in Charlotte early next year to further strengthen our care, reaching and helping patients across the United States and broaden our impact globally.”

Carolinas Rehabilitation has proudly served the Carolinas and beyond for more than 70 years and is preparing to open a new world class facility on the campus of Carolinas Medical Center. This new rehabilitation hospital will be a place of innovation with promising breakthroughs in clinical care. Carolinas Rehabilitation’s new flagship 150,000-square-foot specialized hospital, the David L. Conlan Center, will feature 72 private patient rooms, a 9,300-square-foot outpatient clinic, an outdoor therapy garden, an aquatic therapy program and a center for independent living to help patients relearn activities for daily life.

Atrium Health has renowned pediatrics care, as well.  In June, Atrium Health’s Levine Children’s Hospital was ranked among the Top 50 Best Children’s Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for the fifteenth consecutive year in eight pediatric specialties.

Each year, U.S. News & World Report evaluates more than 5,000 hospitals across the nation, assessing objective measures in most areas of care, such as risk-adjusted survival, readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators. According to the publication, the annual Best Hospitals rankings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for life-threatening conditions or for common elective procedures.
