U.S. News & World Report ranks Levine Children’s Hospital as a ‘Best Children’s Hospital’ across 10 specialties; names hospital No.1 in N.C. and ties for No.1 in southeastern United States
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 8, 2024 – For the 17th consecutive year, Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital has been recognized as one of U.S. News & World Report’s ‘Best Children’s Hospitals.’ In addition to ranking among the Top 50 in the country across 10 pediatric specialties, the hospital earned the prestigious ranking of the No.1 children’s hospital in North Carolina and tied for the No.1 children’s hospital in the entire southeastern United States.
“We have felt incredibly humbled to earn the title of a ‘Best Children’s Hospital’ every year since opening our doors, but this year to have this recognition expanded to include being number one in our state and tied for number one in the entire southeastern United States is something that leaves us with gratitude that is immeasurable,” said Dr. Stacy Nicholson, president of Atrium Health Levine Children’s. “This honor not only demonstrates that our care teams deliver the best and safest treatments in the country, but it also emphasizes what makes Levine Children’s stand out among the rest – the warm, personal and unwavering approach our teammates provide for every patient.”
U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals rankings are considered the most comprehensive source of quality-related information on U.S. pediatric hospitals. Rankings are determined based on key clinical data from nearly 200 medical centers, through a detailed survey that looks at measures such as patient safety and outcomes, patient and family satisfaction, infection prevention, reputation and compliance with best practices.
Levine Children’s Hospital received a Top 50 national ranking in 10 specialties, the most in the hospital’s history:
- Behavioral Health
- Cancer
- Cardiology & Heart Surgery
- Gastroenterology & GI Surgery
- Neonatology
- Nephrology
- Neurology & Neurosurgery
- Orthopedics
- Pulmonology & Lung Surgery
- Urology
This outstanding accomplishment underscores the hospital’s comprehensive and specialized care, including being home to the region’s most advanced pediatric cardiac program, helping cardiology and heart surgery rank as the No. 7 program in the nation, the hospital’s second consecutive year achieving a Top 10 national ranking.
These rankings mark the first year that behavioral health has been a recognized specialty by U.S. News & World Report and Levine Children’s Hospital is proud to be among the inaugural hospitals ranked in this specialty.
Despite this overwhelming success, the hospital is continually seeking growth by setting new standards in pediatric healthcare through innovative treatments, cutting-edge research and a compassionate approach to patient care. The hospital’s commitment to excellence ensures that children receive the best possible care, close to home.
“Each day and each patient renew our dedication to achieving incredible medical milestones, while also creating a fun, loving environment for kids simply to be kids,” said Callie Dobbins, senior vice president of Levine Children’s. “These recognitions affirm what we have known for 17 years – families can have peace of mind that their children are receiving the best care at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital.”
